While she was in rehab, Britney Spears was caught romping in the bushes of her rehab center with a mystery man. The troubled singer played a game of tennis with the unnamed man, who is also receiving treatment at Malibu's Promises clinic, before they disappeared together. The pair were later found frolicking in the foliage of the grounds and had to be separated by security staff.

A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper at the time: "Britney and her new male friend decided to play a game of tennis. Britney is allowed a little more freedom now she's been in the center a while."

Now a snitch has revealed the make out man. Well sort of - the snitch is the guy's PR flack. According to the New York Post musician Howie Day's publicist wrote to Page Six to tell them that Britney Spears' recent unidentified tennis partner at Promises rehab center in Los Angeles, where they were photographed, is none other than her client.

So much for anonymity with treatment. The report from the Post notes that Day is evidently being treated at the facility, and his rep informed the paper, "He is promising to finish his next album when he emerges." Is Britney singing on it as Howie Day just did?

Pop star Britney Spears’ feared sons would forget her under K-Fed’s ex’s shadow


London, April 01: Pop star Britney Spears’ month long rehab spell was hard hitting for her mainly because the singer feared her two little boys getting detached from her while she was being treated.

The ‘Toxic singer, who rehabbed at the Promises rehab clinic in Malibu, was extremely afraid that her sons would forget her.

"She was so afraid her sons would forget her,” the National Ledger quoted a source, as telling Star Magazine.

During one of the kids’ first visits to the clinic with Britney’s estranged husband Kevin Federline, Sean, Britney’s elder son, reportedly burst into tears after seeing her.

"Britney also started crying. She told Kevin ‘I am ugly and Sean hates me’, It was her worst nightmare,” the source added.

The chief reason for Britney’s anxiety, however, is the reunion between her Kevin and his ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson, who is apparently spending quality time with the two kids.

Recently Federline celebrated his 29th birthday with his children and Shar in Las Vegas.

Born in Kentwood, Louisiana, Spears first came to fame as a member of the Disney Channel's New Mickey Mouse Club in the 1993 and 1994 seasons.

Her castmates on the show included Justin Timberlake and Joshua Chasez (who later became members of the pop band NSYNC), Keri Russell (star of the TV show Felicity) and Christina Aguilera, also a pop singer. Spears dated Timberlake for about five years.

Her first album on Jive Records, Baby One More Time, debuted in the number 1 spot on the Billboard Charts in early 1999, and also topped the charts in the UK. The single of the same name was also a number 1 hit in many countries, and was accompanied by a music video in which Spears wore a school-girl outfit and danced through a high-school corridor. Her followup album, Oops I Did It Again, also debuted at number 1 and was a similarly huge hit.

Spears' success has rested on a mixed fanbase. Millions of prepubescent girls became enthusiasts for her work, adopting her as an idol. It also appears that many young adult males are also fans. Writers on popular music for the mainstream press, however, have generally been dismissive of Spears' music, considering it to be commercial and shallow.

Following the first two successful albums, Spears' career skyrocketed, and a multimillion-dollar music, film, advertisement, concert and TV-special "industry" sprang up around her. Her most popular ads were for Pepsi. In 2003 there was media speculation that the soft drink behemoth were planning to replace Spears with Destiny's Child frontwoman Beyonc?Knowles. This speculation turned out to be false, and Spears has gone on to sponsor other Pepsi products.

Her next album, Britney, was released on November 6, 2001, and debuted at number 1 in the charts. The first single "I'm A Slave 4 U" was produced by The Neptunes, and its R'n'B stylings heralded the starlet's attempt to grow with her audience, young or old. Over 4 million copies of Britney were sold in the United States alone, and the album went on to sell over 12 million copies worldwide. While the album was very much a hit by anyone else's standards, these figures are low in comparison to the sales of her other albums.

Bridal Designer Kirstie Kelly: Bridal Fashion and very modern

If your nuptial dreams include a fairy-tale wedding, Walt Disney Co. might have the perfect solution.

The company is using its stable of imaginary princesses as inspiration for a new line of wedding gowns. Disney and bridal designer Kirstie Kelly have developed a line of ethereal gowns that pay homage to Cinderella, Jasmine, Snow White, Ariel and Sleeping Beauty.

"They will be high-fashion and very modern," said Paulette Cleghorn, president of Designer Loft Productions, a New York public relations firm representing Kelly. "We are modernizing the princess concept. There is a difference between a girl who is inspired by Snow White and one who wants to dress like Snow White."

Cleghorn said women who buy from Disney's Fairy Tale Wedding collection are definitely in the inspired category. The gowns, she said, will only vaguely resemble the costumes made famous in Walt Disney movies and storybooks.

The gowns will retail from $1,100 to $2,900. Disney will initially offer 34 gowns, a line that will be expanded to include bridesmaid dresses, flower-girl dresses and jewelry in October.

"The brand extensions will be inspired by the princesses as well," Cleghorn said. "Bridesmaid dresses will be called maidens and accessories will be called jewels."

The princesses collection will be displayed in New York in April and will go on sale in Orlando, Fla., and Southern California in June, Cleghorn said. Later, the line will be available at bridal boutiques elsewhere in North America and Japan.

Lingerie Show: The Search for the Next Doll, a Sick Show

The founder of the sexy pop group said "there’s nothing slutty, there’s nothing skanky" about the Dolls. In fact, Robin Antin said, she is pretty sure that every girl in the world would, deep down inside, want to do what the Pussycat Dolls do. Perhaps this is why thousands of young women emerged to audition to become the next sexy burlesque singer slash dancer in the group that has men (and women) across the country, salivating.

Although… on Tuesday night’s premiere, viewers who tuned in excitedly to watch girls gyrate to "Buttons" in lingerie, were shocked to see a bunch of girls vomiting… in lingerie. Most of the girls were stricken with some sort of stomach virus and the show became a festival of wretching, puking, medics, stretchers and IVs. Moreover, the bitter pill that is reality TV ratings, forced the girls to audition with the stomach flu.

Fashion show gets back to the basics

Now walk it out: Models strap on their pumps and stilettos and rip the runway for a last run.


The fourth annual Back to Basics Fashion Show was held on Thursday, March 1. The event was hosted by Phillip Wade and Endira Hawkins, with DJ No Tables providing the musical entertainment throughout the evening. There were several scenes with models showcasing different styles, from urban wear to workplace fashion and formal wear. Also, two up-and-coming fashion designers revealed their latest creations.

The show opened up with models sporting Prairie View gear provided by the bookstore. Next Sir James, CEO of Hater-Pruuf Urban Wear, showcased his urban line that he called "a symbol of universal love."

Next was the equestrian scene, with a unique mixture of colors and styles.

The swimsuit scene, displaying a fine troupe of shimmering skin and stylish bathing suits, followed immediately after. The crowd was ecstatic as men and women in their finest beachwear took the stage.

The Panther Dolls entertained the crowd during a brief intermission, and there was a fashionably dedicated segment that showed that business is more than just "black and white" in the office. Uniqkua Johnson, a Prairie View student, showed her clothing line from UJ Fashions, which drew a positive reaction from the crowd, followed by a formal wear segment.

Students had a very positive reaction to the show. Adrienne Quickley thought that it was "quite an interesting show that showcased a mixture of talent and high fashion."

The show featured items that can be seen in many places, including on campus, television, and just about anywhere else. Freshman Divon Edwards thought, "It was a very interesting show, with a lot of different styles."

Some of this year's most memorable moments included the Coming to America segment and PV alumnus "Chanel," who made the crowd explode and cheer. Also, the hosts and DJ did a good job of keeping the crowd entertained between scenes.

Attire for the event was provided by a host of sponsors, including the bookstore, JC Penney, K&G Superstore, UJ Fashions, and Hater Pruuf Urban Wear.

When asked if the show inspired her to start her own clothing line, freshman Tylisa Thomas replied "No, but it might inspire others to chase their dreams."

Swimsuit designer Heidi Fish shows off her wares

There's always a hubbub, among men at least, with the annual publication of Sports Illustrated magazine's swimsuit edition, and this year, West Seattle swimwear designer Heidi Fish has a couple of her swimsuits in there - pages 196 and 200.

Two of Fish's swimsuits are featured on model Julie Henderson in separate poses with the marching bands of the University of Southern California and Grambling State University in Louisiana.

Swimsuit designers don't just send in their favorite designs, Fish said. Sports Illustrated editors tell the designers to come up with new designs that follow a particular theme.

"You design to fit a story line they give you," Fish explained. She was instructed to create designs for a "sexy cheerleader" motif. The colors of the swimsuits also had to complement the red and gold uniforms of the Southern Cal Trojan Marching Band as well as black and gold to match the Grambling State Tiger Marching Band.

"For sports, this is the pinnacle of design," Fish said of her selection for publication in Sports Illustrated.

Fish was invited in May to submit designs for the 2007 edition. She caught the attention of the magazine's editors last year by submitting a swimsuit made of seashells.

Briony Pollard debates what Edinburgh has to offer the fashion conscious and anticipates the Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show

Edinburgh, for all its merits, cannot be considered a self-consciously fashion forward city, certainly not in comparison to the other major fashion capitals of the UK, Leeds, Manchester and Brighton. These cities are noted for their stores lined with prĂȘt-a-porter (ready to wear) collections and hoards of attention-grabbing and diversely dressed inhabitants, eager to sport the latest trend. And Edinburgh, well, is not. It is a city of old money and a somewhat understated style.

The young professional population is rather conservative in its appearance, for whom black has been ‘the’ colour of the season for far too long. Rachel Brannan, Assistant Manger of Cruise ladies-wear on Castle Street, notes: ‘‘I am always trying to introduce our clients to new colours, shapes and designs, but effortless black suits, uncomplicated LBD’s (little black dresses) and simple black court shoes are always the best sellers’’. Even amongst the student populous, style is fairly muted by consistent adherence to the ‘grotty yah chic’ look, a remnant left over from Sienna’s boho days. This impression seems to be supported by a report by leading retail analyst CACI last year that stated Edinburgh had ‘‘stood still, whilst other cities had moved forward’’.

Is this the lack of choice and inspiration that other cities provide that is lacking in the Scottish capital, or perhaps its inhabitants have modest stylistic motivation and little interest in high-end fashion? Given the amount of Londoners in the city, one would have thought Edinburgh would be straining under the weight of stimulation from the South, with London being one of the fashion capitals of the world. Granted, Edinburgh College of Art students do present something a little more exciting, but their creative presence is not large enough to cause a stir.

Whilst the high street will always provide shoppers with a quick fix of low-end fashion, Princes Street is simply not an inspiring place to shop, and George Street does little to rouse the imagination. Yet, on closer inspection Edinburgh does have something to offer the fashion conscious. Thistle Street is home to two remarkable fashion retailers: Jane Davidson, which was voted by Harpers and Queen as one of the top 25 boutiques in the world, and Pam Jenkins, which offers high-end footwear brands like Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin. Over in the Old Town is Corniche, which houses sumptuous collections of Vivienne Westwood and Comme des Garcons, alongside a number of Japanese designers such as Yohji Yamamoto and Michiko Koshino. And Armstrong’s Vintage Clothing Emporium has been dressing lovers of old clothes from 1840 and offers a huge range of unique and high quality merchandise.

There are also independent retailers offering something a little bit different. One such store is Godiva, in the city’s West Port. Fleur MacIntosh worked part time in the store whilst studying at the University of Edinburgh. Her love of clothes made her buy the business four years ago, and turn it into the thriving independent it is today. Fleur believes Edinburgh’s shoppers aren’t adventurous enough: ‘‘I do think Edinburghers can be a bit conservative when it comes to dressing, and I just hope that I can convince some of them to let go a bit more’’.

It was a similar disenchantment with what the city had to offer that spurned Claire Thormmen and Fiona MacLean to open the decadent lingerie boutique Boudiche on Frederick Street: ‘‘I was fed up with buying lingerie in characterless department stores,’’ says Claire. ‘‘We wanted to make the shopping experience exciting again’’.

The opening of Harvey Nichols in 2002 and the Multrees Walk development, which has even been hailed by some ‘the Bond Street of the North’, has done a great deal to raise the fashion consciousness of the city. Early reports seemed to concur with the general consensus that Harvey Nichols has picked the wrong Scottish city. Surely Glasgow, with Versace and Armarni et al, was the designer Mecca north of the boarder. But five years on, whilst Jenners has been sold out to House of Fraser, Versace has moved out of Glasgow with Ralph Lauren and Escada following, a whole host of designer retailers, including Replay, Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein and Mulberry have followed Harvey Nics into the new shopping area in the capital. This can only be a good thing and Edinburgh appears to have embraced the store, which is all about celebrities, iconic handbags of the moment and ostentatious designer clothes.‘‘I think Harvey Nichols brought a new dimension to fashion in Edinburgh,’’ says Gordon Drummond, General Manager of the Edinburgh store. ‘‘A more fun and frivolous take on shopping if you like’’.

What Edinburgh needs more of is events like the inaugural Edinburgh International Fashion Festival, which in 2006 brought the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson and home-grown designer, Jonathan Saunders to the Scottish capital, and the Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show, which kicks off on Friday 9 March. It is rumoured to be bigger and better than ever. Entering its fourth consecutive year, the show, which is a non-profit organisation run entirely by students, is the most successful student charity show in Europe. The aim is to raise awareness and funds for charity by attracting students, the public and VIP guests to an event that displays the best of the fashion world and the creative talents of students. Since 2004, ECFS has raised over £160,000, half of which was achieved last year alone, and has showcased designers such as Stella McCartney, Nicole Farhi and Armani just to name a few.
The aim of this year’s show, which is sponsored by Artemis, is to exceed the sum raised last year by providing a more spectacular show, which will attract greater publicity and an even larger audience. The line up for this year certainly looks exciting, with a number of leading designers and high-end fashion brands sitting alongside the creations of students from Edinburgh College of Art and Central Saint Martins. Emma Blackshaw, heading the Fashion Team for this years show clarifies the aims of her team, ‘‘We want to show that fashion is not just an everyday commodity, but a form a self expression and can be a work of art. Fashion can be so much more than the clothes you throw on in the morning. We want to present the creations as a visual spectacle’’.

This year’s show is certainly set to ruffle some feathers. Events such as this illustrate a step in the right direction for Edinburgh, stimulating energetic and vibrant fashionable inspiration in a city that is very much in need of stylistic refreshment.

Maythion Casteel of Falkville got his first chance as a fashion model Saturday and bought the Brooks Brothers suit he wore for just $6.

To brighten the black suit, he spent another $3 for a purple dress shirt by D'Amante.

This bargain buy and others could have been yours if you moved quickly after the fashion show presented by the Salvation Army's thrift store in Decatur.

This event drew models of all ages and genders who put together nearly 70 outfits to showcase spring looks available at next-to-nothing prices. It was held in the Salvation Army gym next to the thrift store on 14th Street Southwest.

"This is the first fashion show we've ever had," said coordinator Tina Henderson, thrift store manager, who wanted to show off the many types of second-hand items available in the store. She enlisted Carolyn Patterson, caseworker and thrift store manager in Athens, to announce the models and describe the outfits.

Henderson said she began recruiting family members and friends, such as Casteel, her brother, to be sure she would have enough models, and then others began arriving at the store to volunteer as word got around. Models got $5 gift certificates to purchase clothing afterward.

Some didn't get to use their certificates on what they modeled, however.

"A lady was wanting my blue denim dress with jacket as soon as I got off the runway," said Edna Garrett of Athens, so she let her have the $3.75 set by Denim and Co.

Garrett said she shops and volunteers at Salvation Army thrift stores in both Decatur and Athens.

"A lady came up to me in Wal-Mart the other day and said my blouse was pretty, and I told her I got it at the Salvation Army store," she said.

Casteel figures he's ready for spring, church and other dressy occasions with his new ensemble. "I thought it looked good when I picked it out," he said, and he modeled in black dress shoes he got at the thrift store several years ago.

While 9-year-old Tonya Ervin of Decatur modeled an Easter dress, she kept her eye out for casual attire others were showing and afterward scoured the racks for several pieces she liked. She came up with khaki Union Bay Capri pants and a String Bean print shirt, just $2 each, and then added a beige string sweater for $2.50 to complete the look.

Kayla Elkins, 9, modeled a white satin dress decorated with lace, pearls and embroidery and a tulle overlay over a long skirt.

"She's going to be in a wedding, so I'm buying it for her for $10," said her mom, Glenda Elkins of Hartselle, who was pleased with that bargain. It probably cost $100 to $150 new.

"We love to shop here; we're always in here looking," Elkins said. "This is the first time Kayla has been in a fashion show, and she really enjoyed it."

Several of the teen models eyed gowns they could wear to their proms.

Kim Little of Decatur modeled a blue and black formal backless gown, and she also chose a silver-embroidered shirt by Joseph A. for a mere $2 and was looking for pants to match.

"I shop here all the time; this is where most of my clothes come from," she said.

Tyeshia Jones of Decatur does, too, and often, because her mom works in the store. On the runway, the 15-year-old showed off a rose-colored evening gown with silver beading; the Adrianna Papell design was priced at $3.75.

"I'm going to buy it to wear to the Decatur High prom," she said, as she also checked out a purple evening gown.

Whitney Bukszar, 15, of Somerville modeled a pink prom-style gown and then went casual in jeans and a turquoise sequin-trimmed top over a tan insert that showed at top and bottom.

"My grandmother goes to church here, and I've come here my whole life," she said, both for church and, on other days, to shop.

Bukszar said she thinks it's a good place for teens to find mix-and-match pieces and dresses they can afford, and on Saturday she headed into the thrift shop afterward because many items were on sale for $1.

For some, the event became a family outing. Sonia and Sergio Bibiano of Decatur had family and extended family members in the show, including Kimberly, 1, Eddy Roberto and Estafani, 3, Jennifer, 6, and Lucero, 12.

Shane Casteel of Decatur, the show director's nephew, chose green dress pants by Hanover Square and matched a green striped shirt by Botany 500. Wife Tonya was too busy backstage dressing their children to model, but she got 18-month-old Isaac into a $5 ivory-colored tuxedo, dress shirt and bow tie and 5-month-old Trey into a $2 blue checked john-john, decorated with teddy bear appliqué, and a white shirt by Guess.

Loveanna Hernandez of Athens showed off everything a 15-month-old might need to dress up for spring: a yellow and blue dress with butterflies, a lavender ensemble, and a black-and-white lace dress.

Jessica Biel just celebrated her 25th birthday this past weekend in the romantic city of Paris. After recently breaking off a relationship with Derek Jeter and being linked to Justin Timberlake, Biel opted to enjoy fashion week and her special day with some friends.

The highly fashion-conscious actress arrived in Paris last Tuesday to take in as much of Paris Fashion Week as possible. Over the weekend, Biel attended designer Giambattista Valli’s show and extended her night by making it her birthday celebration.

"I’m in Paris with my friends. Just being here is enough,” said Biel, who arrived at the designer’s post-show party at Salons France Ameriques with two of her close friends shortly after 11 p.m, according to People.

Biel and her friends headed straight for the VIP room where People reports “they enjoyed their champagne whilst chatting vividly.” Other party attendees included Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, supermodels Jessica Stam, Daria Werbowy, and Gemma Ward.

At about 1:30 a.m., Biel was surprised with an elegant chocolate birthday cake with “Happy Birthday Jessica” written on it.

Biel was reportedly overjoyed to see the cake… “she clapped her hands, hugged the designer Valli and could not wait to enjoy her piece of cake.”

Biel joked, “I’m not one of those skinny actors. I’ve got meat on my bones.”

Jessica continued partying with her friends until 02:30 a.m., when she headed back to her hotel.

She will serve her five-day sentence mopping floors with other community service workers at a Sanitation Department warehouse in Manhattan. She, however, will not have to bear public humiliation as she serves her time indoors. Fellow Briton Boy George attracted enormous media attention last August when he swept public streets in a similar punishment in New York for possession of cocaine. In 2001 Campbell was photographed leaving a Narcotics Anonymous meeting.

The 36-year old Campbell has been accused in the past by at least three other employees of assaulting or hitting them. One assistant was injured when Campbell through a phone at her. Campbell, not one to be daunted by the ravages of fame, placed the blame on her father who abandoned her as a child instead.

Modest Formal Gown wins with teenagers and moms

LEHI — The audience gathered in the Show Barn at Thanksgiving Point a few weeks back seemed to be of one mind.
They like the fashions that highlight the beauty of the model without exposing a lot of skin.
They applaud the dresses that sparkle and swoosh, the gowns that say "look at me" because of the ornamentation and the design, the prom formals that sell with the teenagers as well as dad and mom.
And it's not by accident,
"We welcome the (LDS) young women's groups," said Eddie Gist, who created and operates Modest by Design with his wife, Heather, and her parents, Jeff and Elaine Ferguson.
Gist has been sewing since the seventh grade and graduated from high school as a champion wrestler with a tailoring certificate.
After he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he and his wife decided to create modest, beautiful clothing that women could wear in style.
The clothes modeled in the Lehi shows included satin and chiffon gowns in coral, mint green, black, creme, red, pink, blue and yellow.
Some tied. Others had a wrap of fabric draped dramatically across the skirt.
Many sparkled with rhinestones and sequins.
Rows of tiny buttons marched up the back.
Contrasting piping provided contrast and interest.
Scarf-tip hemlines dressed up the ordinary.
In addition to modest beaded-top prom gown options, models showed off full-skirted wedding and slim-fitting bridesmaid dresses, flower girl choices with tufted skirts and Sunday go-to-church frocks.
The teenage winner of the annual design contest was honored and her dress shown to the audience. Kelsey Malone from Hooper, Utah, designed her dream prom dress in black and white with a medallion-trimmed bodice and skirt and sewn-in edging.
